How to Re-decorate Your Home For Free

Decorating your home can get expensive. So can re-decorating, just ask my husband!  He knew this hobby of mine could get expensive, then I reminded him that he had cattle.

None-the-less, I've found a few ways to re-decorate my home weekly from time-to-time. Here they are.

1. CLEAN
I didn't say they would all be fun ways to re-decorate your home. :) As much as I dread cleaning I love my home when I'm done because it feels like a brand new space each and every time.  All of the chairs are pushed in, the pillows on the couch are fluffed, and everything is put exactly in it's place.  Your home will be beautiful every time you clean.

2. PAINT SOMETHING
You more than likely have extra paint around your house - spray paint or paint from a previous project.  Use it to paint lamps, a small cabinet, a vase, a light fixture, or even a rug.  If you don't have paint, spray paint and paint sample from the paint store a usually under $5.

3. CHANGE YOUR ARTWORK
Nowadays artwork is easy to come by because you can frame pretty much anything so go ahead, change the artwork in the frames you currently have hung on the wall or on the shelf.  It's the perfect opportunity to update pictures of your kids.  Get creative when it comes to filling your frames.  Another option is to re-arrange your artwork, move it from your bedroom to your living room and use the existing nails. The 3M command strips are also amazing.

4. RE-ARRANGE YOUR FURNITURE
I love re-arranging furniture. There is something about moving furniture to a new location that gives me such satisfaction.  Even if you only have two options for re-arranging the furniture in your space, go for it - it will feel new every time.  Can't re-arrange your furniture, re-arrange the pillows on your furniture or a shelf.

5. MAKE YOUR BED DIFFERENTLY
It can't get any easier than this.  Just add a new throw pillow, re-arrange your current pillows into a different order, change the sheets or just change the pillow cases.

6. CREATE A VIGNETTE
Vignettes are small arrangements of decorative items.  They are really easy to create because you can use things you already have on hand - candles, trinkets, books, jewelry boxes, a dish, etc... For real visual appeal, make sure to think "skyline."

ONE MORE FREE WAY TO RE-DECORATE YOUR HOME... I'd like to offer a FREE virtual room consult to anyone interested!  Just send an email to designyourdwellingblog (at) gmail.com and mention this post.  I'll offer you some suggestions for furniture arrangement, items to consider adding to your space, and suggest items to re-locate.
